Distracted Driving: Learn More About the Dangers of Texting While Driving

Dr. Timothy Price, who works in our Trauma Center here at University of Louisville Hospital, appeared on WHAS-11 today with Rachel Platt to share with viewers the dangers of distracted driving.

Kentucky has a new law banning texting while driving. In July 2010, officers began issuing warnings; starting in January 2011, you could face fines for this illegal activity.

As one of the hospital’s emergency medicine team members, Dr. Price has seen all too often the aftermath of texting while driving. As he told Rachel, fines may be the least of your worries. The biggest issue is the potential life-threatening injuries you could cause someone else – or yourself. Dr. Price hopes the fines will help increase awareness.
