Innovation in Breast Cancer Radiation

(Photo: Kylene White,The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal)

Check out Sunday’s USA Today and The Courier Journal featuring an innovative approach to radiation for early stage breast cancer.  Using higher dosages, the  James Graham Brown Cancer Center (JGBCC) clinical trial cuts the number of treatments and improves access/options for patients, especially those with distance, transportation or time constraints.   It offers several advantages including:

  • Reduced treatment days
  • Reduced radiation exposure
  • Reduced cost
  • Same results

Congrats to Dr. Anthony Dragun and the entire breast team.  The study is pending publication by the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
